Aged Care Maldives Appointed to Work for the Betterment of Services Provided to Elderly Residents of Home for People with Special Needs

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services and Aged Care Maldives, appointing the latter to work towards enhancing the services provided to the elderly residents of Home for People with Special Needs in Guraidhoo island, Kaafu Atoll.

In a dedicated ceremony held at the Ministry for the signing yesterday, Minister Aishath Mohamed Didi and CEO and Founder of Aged Care Maldives, Dr. Aminath Jameel documented the MoU.

Speaking during the ceremony, Minister stated that with planned programs for caretakers at the facility under this project, it is expected to see great improvement on the current care being provided to the residents of HPSN. She emphasized on the importance of such projects in ensuring that efficient and appropriate care is provided at dedicated facilities.

Dr. Aminath shared hope in the project kicking off as a sign of improved development in the area which was much needed.

In a first, caregivers at HPSN will undergo certified training relevant to the services provided at the facility, states CEO of HPSN, Yooshau Shihan. Their current experience spans only to the knowledge they gain from the field therefore additional development is a step in the right direction, he said.

The aim of this one-year project is to create a safe and caring environment for the elderly residents of HPSN. Both the Ministry and Aged Care Maldives plan on carrying out the activities within the project in a sustainable fashion so that the trainings will show lasting effect in the long run.
