Highlights of President’s Trip to South Miladhunmadulu Atoll

On Tuesday morning, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih departed on an official two-day trip to visit selected islands in Noonu Atoll.  

 
During his visit to Maafaru Island, the first stop on his tour, President Solih met with the members of the Maafaru Island Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) in the South Miladhunmadulu Atoll. He also spoke with the islanders in a residential community meeting, sharing the ambitious visions of the government for the development of the island. President listened to the concerns of both the administration and islanders during the meetings.  

 
While stopping at Landhoo island next, President inaugurated the new harbour on the island, and spoke to the islanders during the ceremony. He promised to continue to value and consider the public’s opinion and sentiment in carrying out urban development projects. He met with members of the Landhoo Island Council and Women’s Development Committee and shared discussion on the status of the island. President also took part in the opening of the new mosque on the island, which can cater for 500 people at once.  

 
Following his trip to Manadhoo island, President took a tour of the Noonu Atoll Hospital overviewing the progress on the project to develop an extention building in the facility. Members of the Manadhoo Island Council expressed their contentment with the ongoing developmental work on the island during their meeting with the President. He assured continued support and assistance in attending to their concerns.
