Birmingham 2022 – Queen’s Baton Welcomed By Maldives

At a ceremony held on December 29th, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih welcomed the Birmingham 2022 – Queen’s Baton. The president was accompanied by Vice President Faisal Naseem and other officials.
 
The Queen’s Baton is currently on it’s 294-day journey to every part of the Commonwealth. The Relay began on October 7th, 2021, when Her Majesty the Queen placed her Message to the Commonwealth in the Baton. As it links communities, welcomes distinct cultures, and shares inspirational stories, this communal voyage will inspire hope, solidarity, and collaboration.
 
Handing over the baton to President Solih was the President of The Commonwealth Games Association & Maldives Olympic Committee, Mohamed Abdul Sattar. VP Faisal also took the initiative for pictures with Sattar.
 
The 16th official Queen’s Baton Relay would continue its global journey around the 72 Commonwealth nations and territories before concluding at the opening ceremony of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games on July 28th, 2022.
