MACL Initiates The First Air Traffic Control Tower Stimulator In Maldives

In a ceremony held at Velana International Airport on December 28th, the Acting-Deputy Chief Officer of Maldives Airport Company Limited (MACL), Ibrahim Thoha launched the very first Air Traffic Control Tower Stimulator in Maldives. Thoha was accompanied by other senior officials in the company.

 

The inauguration comes with a bright future for youths who wish to pursue a career in the budding field in the country. According to MACL, the inauguration will benefit the staff who wish to be trained in the field as well including staff of other airports in the country.


 
The Traffic Control Tower located in Velana International Airport was developed with a budget of MVR 4 million and has the ability to simulate any airport in Maldives. While the airport's runway is now displayed at 240 degrees in the simulator, there is room to raise this to 280 degrees.
 
The simulator will replicate Maldivian airports and will show a precise picture of the whole Velana International Airport airfield. MACL operates air traffic control towers at all international and domestic airports in the Maldives.
