President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih addresses the residents of Maldives whilst speaking at the National Unity Day ceremony held at the Republic Square on December 26th, 2021. The President was accompanied by First Lady, Fazna Ahmed, Vice President, Faisal Naseem and other notable senior government officials.
In his speech addressing the general public, President Solih marked the National Unity Day is observed to commemorate the remarkable kindred, uniting, and fraternal relations demonstrated by Maldivians in the aftermath of the Indian Ocean tsunami on December 26th, 2004.
He went on to remark the 190 islands that were destroyed and affected to varied degrees, however, despite the situation, we came together as one family.
Whilst speaking at the ceremony, President Solih assured the public regarding the government addressing the general concerns, comforting that the administration will continue to listen to the voices of the people and remedy their concerns.
In this regard, the President announced the extension of the grace period to 3 months starting from January for the Hiyaa Flat owners, addressing their concerns over the unfinished apartments and expressed his hope for renovations to be completed by the end of March 2022.
