UAE and Maldives Share Trade and Investment Opportunities in Renewable Energy at Targeted Webinar

Today, a webinar titled ‘Investing in Renewable Energy: Opportunities for Maldives and UAE’ has been conducted targeting investors in UAE regarding the ample opportunities for investment in renewable energy in the Maldives.  
 
The webinar was hosted by the Ministry of Economic Development along with the Embassy of UAE in Male'. H.E Heba Aljneibi, Chargé d'Affaires, Embassy of UAE in Male', Mr. Mohammad Abdelqader El Ramahi, Director, Asset Management and Technical Services of Masdar, UAE, and H.E Khadeeja Naseem, Minister of State for Environment, Climate Change & Technology were in attendance.  

 
Delivering the welcome remarks, H.E. Aljneibi expressed the desire to further strengthen the existing special relationship between the Maldives and the UAE through enhanced trade opportunities. She stated that the progress UAE has made in the field of renewable energy and climate change mitigation will be of great advantage. Her statement was supported by remarks from Mr. Abdelqader El Ramahi, who emphasized on the valuable experience and expertise of UAE in investing in the renewable energy sector in the UAE. 
 
The Ministry presented an overview of the Maldivian economy and the opportunities for investment in the country. It followed with a question-and-answer session where participants elaborated on their queries and shared their experiences. The closing remarks were given by H.E Khadeeja, highlighting the Government's target of achieving net zero emissions by 2030.
