World Statistic Day is celebrated every five years on 20th of October. Maldives celebrates the occasion on the same date as well, but is declared to be marked every year. Keeping in the mind that importance of the day and what it stands for, it is not something which garners a lot of attention but putting this in focus in an interesting approach, a poster competition is being held which is targeted towards children.
The competition is hosted by National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in collaboration with UNICEF Maldives. All Children between the ages 12 to 17 years old is eligible to be a contestant. There are three categories contestants can choose to participate in individually or as a group. Your poster’s must however fall under the theme ‘my data, my community’ to which they must give their own title which can be in either English or Dhivehi. What is really important is that all statistics obtained for the poster must be properly referenced. If this still sounds boring, I inform you of the monetary incentive for winners. Not too bad now huh?
All entries for the competition must be submitted before 10th November 2020.
You can find more details regarding the competition via this link such as information on entry criteria, poster submission, theme, links to already published statistics etc. Good luck to all participants!
