On Saturday, Managing Director of Male Water and Sewerage Company, Hassan Shah, along with MP for Kurendhoo Constituency, Abdul Hakeem, MP for Hulhumale Constituency, Ali Niyaz, broke ground on the Water and Sewerage Project undertaken by MWSC in the island of Lh. Olhuvelifushi.
The ceremony held for the event was graced by Lh. Atoll Council’s President Yaseen Abdulla, and Olhuvelifushi Council’s President Mohamed Azim, Chairman of Maldives Post Limited, Mohamed Abdulla, and MWSC Management Team.
This project worth MVR 80.08 million was contracted to MWSC by Maldives National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
The scope of work of this project includes the establishment of a 9.72-kilometer main water pipeline network, construction of an RO facility, installation of two RO plants, and three water tanks to store water. The installation of water meters in household, provision of water connections and the supply of clean and safe drinking water is also part of the project.
Upon completion of the project, MWSC will additionally provide a generator set and vehicles needed to manage the water and sanitation system. Regular water testing will also be carried out with the aid of equipment provided by MWSC.
