Health Minister, Ahmed Naseem stated the expansion of health services to local islands will begin once the new ambulances start operations. He also mentioned the easier access to emergency responses that have lacked in the past in some of the local islands.
As per the signed Memorandum of Understanding between Ministry of Health and State Trading Organization in June 2021, a total of 96 ambulances will be disbursed to the islands.
On a twitter announcement made, STO has confirmed the conclusion of second batch of ambulances that has been distributed to the list of islands below. As of now a total of 40 ambulances have been received and disbursed.
