As per the imports & exports statistics report published by Maldives Customs Service, the imports percentage compared to 2020 had increased by 94% this year, November.
While goods worth MVR 2.1 billion were imported on November 2020, this year November, the amount had doubled to a whooping MVR 4 billion worth of goods!
Moreover, the Customs Revenue for this year had also increased 17%, with customs receiving MVR 322 million in total.
Going over the top country’s that Maldives imports include China being number one at 15% of goods imported from the country, following up is Oman with 13% of goods imported, in third place is a tie between India and UAE with 11% of goods imported from both countries. Singapore follows closely at number five with 10% of goods imported for the month of November 2021.
The countries that Maldives export the most are Thailand (38%), Germany (14%), UK (12%), Mauritius (6%) & France (6%). The vessel movements had increased in November 2021 compared to last year with 100 vessels arrived and 20,524 Declarations processed.
However, the number of vessels departed had decreased by 4 vessels compared to last year.
