New Rules For Travelers To Hong Kong From Maldives

Following the identification of the Omicron variant in the Maldives, Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised the public to take precautions such as wearing a mask and avoiding social contact. Flu clinics have been asked to screen anyone who are exhibiting symptoms.

Hours after the Maldives confirmed its first case of Omicron on December 5th, a different and potentially more contagious COVID-19 variant, Hong Kong imposed travel restrictions on the country, adding Maldives to their list of high-risk countries effective from December 9th onward.

With the new rules in place, Hong Kong residents who have stayed in Maldives within the last 21 days, will not be allowed to enter the country unless the resident is fully vaccinated and have completed the 21-days quarantine that is now mandatory if traveling from Maldives.
