In order to empower the youth working in Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) and youth in general, a Momentum of Understanding was signed between MIFCO and the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Community Empowerment on November 30th, 2021 for the National Apprenticeship Program.
The MOU was signed in the hopes of providing a chance for the youth and employees working in MIFCO, to gain further knowledge via studies employed in the company at the same time. The opportunity is opened for 22 slots in general and 73 slots for employees of MIFCO under 6 different categories.
MIFCO stated that the categories for studies include Electrical Installation & Maintenance's, Welding Techniques and Auto Maintenance's, which are in high demand in the company. Marine Mechanics, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanics along with Processing & Quality Control are also part of the categories opened for studies.
The students who will study under this program will get educated under the Maldives National Skills Development Authority’s National Competence’s standards. The graduates are bound to get level 3 certificates in their respective studies.
MIFCO also announced that the student’s part-taking in the apprenticeship program that are carried out in the company’s centers will be getting an allowance of MVR 3000. The graduates will also stand a chance to get employed with MIFCO.
