Ga.Nilandhoo School To Get Upgrades With The Japanese Grant Assist

Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects scheme (GGP) is part of the Japanese official Development Assistance (ODA) implemented in 1996 by the Embassy of Japan in Maldives in order to empower people at the grassroots level.

The Grant has assisted in many developments in the country, such as in education, environment, health, transportation and energy.

Recently, a Grant Assist contract was signed by the Ambassador of Japan to Maldives, Yanai Keiko and the Principle of Ga.Nilandhoo School in which renovations are to take place. The assist totals to MVR 1,166,970 which is equivalent to USD 75,679.

Renovations set to take place as per the contract includes the construction of a library and a classroom for Grade 1 students in Ga.Nilandhoo School. This aid will allow students to receive a high-quality education in a safe learning environment.

Furthermore, residents of the island will also be able to use the school building as an emergency evacuation shelter in the event of a natural disaster on the island.
