The High Commissioner of the Republic of India to the Republic of Maldives, Munu Mahawar, paid a courtesy call on Vice President, Faisal Naseem at the President’s Office on November 21st.
VP Faisal expressed his delight on the High Commissioner's appointment and welcomed him to the Maldives. They discussed about the Maldives' and India's close ties, and they discussed ways to improve bilateral relations for the Maldives' and India's mutual benefit.
VP Faisal also thanked the Indian government for their support and assistance in the Maldives' High Impact Community Development Projects, as well as their kind support and aid during the Covid-19 pandemic. He also emphasized the importance of the Indian government's assistance to the Maldives in combating maritime cross-border drug trafficking.
The two parties went on to examine the issues that the Maldives' health sector is facing. VP Faisal also praised the High Commissioner for the Indian government's support for the Maldives' socio-economic development.
Both the Vice President and the High Commissioner reaffirmed their confidence in the two countries' strong ties at the end of the call.
