Swimming Association of Maldives is registered under the Maldives association act in 1983 to focus on Swimming, open water swimming, water polo and synchronized swimming.
This association is affiliated to Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA), Asian Swimming Federation (AASF), South Asian Swimming Federation, the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) and act as the National Sports Association for Aquatic Sports in Maldives.
With a mission to develop and expand practices of water sports, training personnel for this cause, popularizing water sports in the country and increasing involvement of the public in such activities, enriching opportunities for interested individuals, and making water sports the most beneficial sport among Maldivians.
Fairly recently, the 45th National Swimming Competition has kicked-off taking place at Hulhumale’ Swimming Pool. Competing are 7 female teams and 9 male teams taking part in the event that is set to go on until November 25th giving the opportunity for the swimmers to showcase their talent within their respective groups.
A total of 76 young females and 119 male swimmers take part in the competition that is divided into three categories of Juniors, Seniors and Masters.
