The graduation ceremony for the graduates of National Center for Holy Quran took place on November 20th, in which President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih delivered his speech, pledging that his government will prioritize broadening the spread of religious knowledge and teachings in the nation.
President Solih stated at the occasion hosted at the Islamic Center that one of the primary pledges under the Jazeera Raajje’ vision is to extend religious learning and understanding in the Maldives. He also stated that, beginning next year, the government will begin subsidizing living expenses for students enrolled in a course to memorize the Holy Quran outside of their residence island.
At tonight's ceremony, the President thanked all of the graduates, noting that they had recently completed studies in a major field, as Quran teachers, Imams, and other religious leaders have always played an important role in our society. He went on to say how important it is to learn to recite the Holy Quran, the emotions it creates in listeners, and the lessons to be learned from the holy verses.
Concluding his speech, President Solih emphasized that the Holy Quran teaches us that we are stronger as a community when we serve one another without discrimination or inequality. He condemned those who use the Holy Quran's teachings to promote extremist objectives, claiming that the Holy Quran commands us to respect one another with empathy, patience, and love.
