Ten fingers are not enough to count the number of international travel fairs government mandated body marketing Maldives as a tourist destination worldwide; Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) along with local travel partners had participated in since tourism activities resumed in Maldives. In this regard, they are pleased to add an additional number to the list – International Media Marketplace – Virtual Asia Edition. The event is held from 27th and 28th October and counts as one of the major networking event which connects major medias and travel brands.
The participation in this event means an opportunity to market Maldives to key publications including CNN Travel, Robb Report, Tatler Asia, Condé Nast Traveler, South China Morning Post. Numerous editors and journalists will be present for the event from these news publications.
Maldives will be primarily marketed under MMPRC’s ongoing campaign ‘Rediscover Maldives’ promoting Maldives as a safe tourist destination in the light of its ‘one island – one resort’ concept. In addition to this, participants will be given the latest updates on the current situation regarding COVID-19 as well as the safety measure in motion. A strong factor which plays in our favor in this regard is the having been granted a ‘Safe Travel Stamp’ from World Travel and Tourism Council. Another focus will be on the introduction of the first insurance covering expenses incurred by a positive COVID-19 testing while staying in Maldives for tourists.
The Asia region contains some of the major key tourist markets to Maldives such as China, India etc. A total of 31,744 tourists have arrived to Maldives since border reopening. Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Mausoom anticipates that more than 100,000 tourists would be visiting the country in the remaining days of the year.
