With a large number of working youths in Maldives, vocational education and training can develop and enhance the potential of the youth to drive a vibrant and productive economy. In support of this, under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP), ‘The Project for Provision of Equipment to Maldives Polytechnic in Male’ scheme was signed today by the Ambassador of Japan to Maldives, Yanai Keiko and CEO of Maldives Polytechnic, Ahmed Nasir.
Under the grant contract, the Japanese Government committed JPY 9,588,132 (approximately USD 88,779 / MVR 1,331,685) Japanese Yen for the provision of 5 vocational training equipment for the Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning and Mechanical Engineering labs, such as the absorption refrigeration system and the electrical faults in full air conditioning systems, to enhance skill-based training programs.
Such programs will facilitate the empowerment of the youth and benefit the large local community in the long run. Since 1996, the GGP was implemented in broad areas such as education, health, transportation and energy with a viewing contributing to sustainable development of the Maldives.
