President & First Lady Departs To Sri Lanka On An Official Visit

Scheduled to return on November 9^th, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed departed on a two-day trip to Sri Lanka in order to officiate the opening ceremony of ‘Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy 2021’. During this tournament Maldives will play against Sri Lanka at the opening match participated by the national football teams from Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Seychelles.

This tournament is titled as the “Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy” to emphasize the importance of the sport, and express the state’s support by uplifting the game of football in Sri Lanka and in the South Asian region.

During this two-day visit, President Solih is scheduled to hold official talks with the Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
