Mental Health is one of the most important factors that has to be discussed far more frequently specially with young adults. A person’s mental health is affected by the environment surrounding them throughout their lives. Different people use different approaches to keep their mental health in check. One of the most useful therapeutic approach is writing. This is an approach that The Chairperson of Maldives-Australia Alumni, Hawwa Leesha has taken and is teaching many generations.
The book “Owning My Thoughts: A Therapeutic Journal” is for readers aged 12 and above that consists of affirmative and positive quotes throughout encouraging the reader to document their own experiences for a therapeutic journaling experience. Speaking at the ceremony, First Lady Fazna spoke of the significance and benefits of writing journals for therapeutic purposes further shedding light on the importance of sharing knowledge and resources with other working professionals in the mental health industry.
The book was printed under the help of grants from the Australian Awards where around 500 copies will be donated to schools and other public institutions and an additional 500 copies of the book will be sold commercially. The proceeds from the sale of the books is to be donated to 10 different families with children with special needs.
