Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) is taking necessary action towards pharmacies that fail to provide essential medications to the public of Maldives. Over the years, the authority had received countless complains of pharmacies not having the required stock and refraining from providing basic necessary treatments.
MFDA urged pharmacies to correct such issues at the earliest convenience and to keep a full stock of essential medications readily available in order to avoid such blunders. The authority has released a list of medicines that the pharmacies must have. They also have given the approval to supply Prescription only medicine and over-the counter medicine that is not pinned down in the list released.
Furthermore, MFDA has also instructed all pharmacies to submit a list of on-hand medicine that the pharmacies provide; a stock report, every three months to ensure that the pharmacies keep to the authorities’ instructions.
