Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Cooperation has started the training program of Local Tour Guides ahead of the Savaadheeththa Dhathuru which is set to start on February 2022 for three weeks. The Dhathuru is targeted for tourists and participants to travel across the Maldivian Atolls in a yacht rally. The participants are set to visit 11 habited and 4 inhabited islands in total.
The Local Tour Guides are being trained in order for the yacht rally to be informative to the participants making it an information filled fun rally that is open for world-wide participants. In a virtual ceremony held yesterday, the Minister of Higher Education, Ibrahim Hassan inaugurated the training program with 28 participants across 12 islands.
Minister Ibrahim thanked MITDC for taking initiative in carrying out such training programs that will benefit the tourism industry of the country. He also encouraged more youth to join such training programs that can help in building a foundation for their careers. Furthermore, the minister also highlighted the positive outcome of the yacht rally which will support in the presidents calling to broaden the cultural aspect in the tourism industry.
