President Solih Calls on the World to Come Together for a Promising Future

If the world comes together to pool our resources and lift each other in our ongoing recovery towards a greener, resilient, and more sustainable future in the wake of the global pandemic, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.  
 
In his speech during the ceremony held to mark the National Day of the Maldives at the ongoing Expo 2020 in Dubai, President Solih called on the world to strive to show change with our actions rather than just words. He explained the iconic elements incorporated into the Maldives Pavilion that resembles the rich culture, heritage, traditions, and way of life of the Maldivian people in our small island state. Given our fragile nature, President Solih stressed on the urgency to address global matters such as climate change, famine, and economic crashes. 
 
President Solih commended the leadership of the United Arab Emirates for pulling off the Expo at such an impressive magnitude in attendance of 192 countries despite the many hurdles of the recent times. He stated that it was a true testament to their foresight in providing a platform for global stakeholders to network and find new solutions to overlapping global challenges in creating a promising future. 
 
The UAE has always been a significant development partner and close friend to the Maldives, and remains a frequent collaborator on common positions in the international arena.
