Bank of Maldives concluded their Extraordinary General Meeting on Thursday. Speaking during the meeting, CEO and Managing Director of BML, Tim Sawyer threw light on the Bank’s performance in the third quarter of the year.
Focusing on the many enhancements made to customer services with the newly introduced digital initiatives, Tim was delighted to share that the Bank exceeded expectations and achieved stronger than forecasted financials.
Tim stated that digitization remains a key priority for the Bank, in line with its strategy to continue to focus on delivering its digital roadmap to making the bank better. In the last quarter, Bank had made a major upgrade to the Contact Centre, and launched online services including digital PIN, online card services and instant internet banking registration.
BML secured MVR 1.03 billion in operating profits – a whopping 108% improvement compared to the previous quarter. This is a higher-than-average profit and comes as a result of a significant one-off recovery. “We are in a strong, better than anticipated position.” Tim commented.
The Bank expects this positive momentum to continue to the end of the year as income lines too are performing better in comparison to the previous quarter.
“Our service levels and customer experience measures have already seen significant improvements. Our continued solid performance will support our commitment to investing in our customers and the communities we serve. We have committed to do more and to do better. We will deliver on this commitment.” - Tim Sawyer, CEO and Managing Director of BML on the Bank's performance in the 2021 Third Quarter
Close to its fourth decade of service, BML continues to award organizations across the country to support the thematic areas of education, environment, sports and community development. During the last quarter, a total of 55 Aharenge Bank Community Fund projects were awarded, an additional 5 in the list.
A number of high impact initiatives themed under supporting and appreciating our customers, communities and colleagues are lined up in the lead up to BML’s 40th anniversary, shared Tim.
