Vessels to Fulfil A Set of Requirements by New Year, Announces Transport Authority

The Maldives Transport Authority has publicized a list of documents and equipment required to be present in a sea vessel at all times. The documentation must be updated and completed by January 16, 2022.  
 
They are:  

  • Oil Pollution and Prevention Certificate 
  • Certificate to carry dangerous and flammable goods 
  • Sewage certificate 
  • Letter administered upon docking for maintenance 
  • Proper license and certification for boat captains, crew, and mechanics 
  • Must have all buoyant apparatus onboard 
  • A functioning standard vessel tracking device 
  • Boat manifest displayed in public area on the boat 
  • Employment agreements and medical certificates (for foreign crew) available to preent upon request 
  • Standard communication equipment functioning on the boat 
  • Safety apparatus, including life jackets and life buoys available at set limits 

 
Transport Authority has announced that if the above mentioned requirements are not fulfilled by the said date, the seaworthiness certificate of the vessel will be deemed cancelled.
