As part of the activities held to mark the Youth Day of this year, a special event for the differently abled was arranged in Kulhudhuffushi city.
In partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Kulhudhuffushi Council, and Maldives Paralympic Committee, the Inclusive Youth Festival 2021 saw participation from a number of special students from Kulhudhuffushi School.
The festival was arranged to include an array of interestng games and educational activities for the participants to have a good time. The success of the event was a major push to the aim of the event to include the differently abled as a contributing part of the community and to empower them to take up and get involved in opportunities in the community.
Following the event, an information session for parents and teachers of the special children were conducted in partnership with the National Paralympic Committee. There are 3 SEN Classes taking place at Kulhudhuffushi School at the moment, with over 150 children undergoing Speech Therapy treatment at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.
