The First Agro Garden Project Kicks Off at Kandoodhoo School

School gardening program by AgroNat has kicked off at Kandoodhoo School. Officially started by the Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan, the project is a first-of-its-kind in the Maldives hoped to take farming to a whole new level.

The beginning of all great causes start with educating the younger generation on it, said the Minister. In this regard, he stated that the Agro Garden Project wil build a foundation of interest in the young minds to local farming. It also shows scope of new and innovative methods being introduced into the industry as new generations put their forward-thinking minds to improving the current methods.

Managing Director of AgroNat, Haroon Rasheed said that this initiative is building upon a core aim of the organization. Their focus is to introduce more schools to the model and implement it in a wider scope in all schools of the country.

AgroNat will be closely monitoring the progress of the project. To encourage the project to prosper, AgroNat will be purchasing the produce (lettuce, ladies' finger, basil, mint, corn, and copyfaiyy) from the school.

As part of the Agro Garden project, students will be educated on various methods of farming, train them and further equip them with the knowledge to take up farming by themselves by the time they graduate.
