Be Cautious, Common Cold is Way Too Common These Days!

Health Protection Agency has warned the public to remain cautious about the spread of common cold that is on a high recently across the Maldives. Reports show over 11000 cases of common cold being reported so far in the month of October alone, with samples testing positive for Influenza rising at an alarming level too.

Similar to Covid19, common cold and Influenza act as infections in the respiratory system hence, maintaining social distance, increasing intake of fluids, taking ample bed rest, handwashing and maintaining hygiene are strongly recommended toa void the spread of these diseases.

Take special note of getting immediate medical attention if children below the age of 5, elderly, pregnant women, and those taking long-term treatments show continued signs of common cold without ease. Flu clinics have been set up by IGMH and ADK to consult for the flu symptoms respectively.

The public is urged to stay home once symptoms are noticed until they ease, and to reduce visitations to sick people so to not risk getting infected.
