As the largest marine and civil constructor operating in the Maldives, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc (MTCC) has a significant portion of their staffs employed in the construction work of projects which have been contracted them across all regions in the country. The management of MTCC is committed to ensure the smooth sailing of all the projects whereas they personally visit work sites to oversee the progress. In this regard, the CEO of the company, Mr. Adam Azim accompanied Minister of State for National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mr. Akram Kamaludheen in a mass inspection carried out at work sites located in the atolls of Haa Alif and Haa Dhaalu, in the past few days.
The project sites inspected during this visit and their latest developments are as follows;
Airport Terminal & Runway and Fire Building and Taxi Way Project at Hoarafush in Haa Alif Atoll
95% of the work on the runway and the taxi way has been complete whilst the 35% of the terminal and fire building has been completed. As per MTCC, they are working around the clock to fully complete the work by 8th November 2020.
Harbor Projects at Ihavandhoo in Haa Alif Atoll and Hanimaadhoo and Nehlaidhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll
Whilst 26% of the harbor project at the island of Ihavandhoo has been complete, 25% and 38% of the harbor projects in the islands of Hanimaadhoo and Nehlaidhoo has been completed respectively.
Major Road Project at Hanimadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll
This project is carried out in two phases in which work under the second phase is 70% complete at the moment.
