UNGA President Concludes Official Visit to the Maldives

President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA), Minister of Foreign Affairs and State Dignitary, Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzudin, H.E Abdulla Shahid has departed the Maldives upon completion of official visit on invitation from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.  
 
PGA Shahid was welcomed at the President’s Office with a full ceremonial welcome upon his arrival by President Solih. They discussed recent developments and PGA Shahid signed the Visitors’ Book. Following the meeting, PGA Shahid and President Solih held a joint press conference with the media.  
 
PGA Shahid was raised to honor of the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin to the PGA. The Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin for his tireless contributions to the Maldivian Government. The acknowledgement was given by President Solih at the special ceremony held to mark the National Day, for PGA Shahid’s continued efforts in boosting the foreign relations of Maldives in the international sphere.  
 
In the timeline of the eventful visit, PGA attended an official luncheon hosted by the President and First Lady in his honor. He also spectated the Maldives-Bangladesh match in the Ooredoo SAFF Championship 2021 played at the National Stadium.  

 
Before their departure, Spouse of PGA Aishath Suiza paid a courtesy call to First Lady Fazna Ahmed at Muleeaage. They discussed the prominent role of women in national successes. First Lady especially celebrated Suiza in this regard, having supported PGA Shahid on his journey, without which the great contributions to nation-building will be more challenging. She stated her gratitude that such unacknowledged efforts are part of PGA Shahid’s Five Rays of Hope Presidency Pledge at the UNGA76.  
 
PGA Shahid was escorted to his flight from Velana International Airport by the Chied of Staff of the President’s Office, Uz Ali Zahir.
