Qatar Airways never fails to surprise! Despite having come to the decision of not undertaking any new deliveries until 2022, the airline made deliveries of three brand new A350-1000 wide-body jets from the world’s largest aircraft manufacturer, Airbus. This makes the airline one of the only one continuing to take delivery of new aircraft this year in the light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic whilst also simultaneously snatching the title of being the largest operator of A350s, counting 52 in its fleet.
The aircrafts are registered as A7-ANO, A7-ANQ, and A7-ANR. Qatar Airways notes that the investment behind the long-haul aircrafts has been to facilitate an ideal flying space for environmental conscious passengers as equipped with a twin engine and being fuel-efficient. Accordingly, the new aircrafts will fly long-haul routes to Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
Prior to reaching home to Doha, the newest additions to its fleet, took a mini-detour across the English Channel as an administrative run in order to complete paperwork relation to an agreement regarding the lease of the aircrafts to an undisclosed party which mandated its presence in the British airspace.
Qatar Airways is one of the airlines that have resumed operations to Maldives, after the border re-opening. Since then, they have become to be the airline carrying the most number of tourists in to the country since July.
