The First Ever Indoor Cricket Court in the Maldives Opens

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President Faisal Naseem have taken part in a friendly indoor cricket game. The match was played following a special ceremony held at the Male City Complex to inaugurate Indoor Cricket and unveil the logo and players’ lounge.  
 
Accompanied by the President and Vice President of the Cricket Board of Maldives, and the President of the Milan Cricket Academy, President Solih and VP Faisal launched the dedicated logo for indoor cricket titled “Hithaai Roohun Kulheyshe Cricket”. Roughly translated from the local Dhivehi language, it means ‘Give your heart and soul to cricket’. They were handed copies of the logo by CBM.

“Jaleel’s Lounge” was also unveiled at the ceremony, a dedicated lounge for players. It was a donation to CBM by the oldest cricket academy in the world, Milan CA. President Solih and VP Faisal took a tour of the lounge with the team.

The friendly game brought a fun end to the ceremony where President Solih and VP Faisal led opposing teams as captains. The teams consisted of veterans, leading officials, and rising cricket players. The first ever indoor cricket game played in the Maldives was won by the VP Eleven Team, beating the President Eleven Team by 89 runs in 10 overs against 85 runs in 12 overs.
