A new private school is being constructed in the Phase II of reclaimed suburbs Hulhumale’.

A project agreement was signed between the Education Ministry and Amin Construction Pvt Ltd for the construction of Salahuddin School in Hulhumale at a special ceremony held at Hulhumale' Development Corporation (HDC) on Saturday. 

Islanders Education runs three schools in Male' City - Kangaroo Kids International School, Billabong High International School and Finland International School. 
 
Although the construction of Salahuddin School was included under 2020’s PSIP budget, the project was delayed due to COVID-19. The ministry has previously stated that the school can accommodate up to 1,000 students.   
 
While the number of families living in Hulhumale' Phase II is increasing, the government has plans to build 14 schools in the area. The construction of some schools has already been awarded to companies. 
 
According to the Education Ministry, the MVR 118 million project is to be completed within 390 days, and is expected to reach completion by March next year.
