Create original art that captures your dreams for the Maldives’ future and stand a chance to win!

The World Bank is preparing its next country engagement strategy for the Maldives. Along with ongoing in-country consultations, the Bank is inviting young Maldivians to share their views through art in a heated competition.

As a young Maldivian, how do you see the future of the Maldives in the next decade? What are your dreams for your country? How will digital technologies and the blue economy play a role in shaping a country that can nurture your dreams and the dreams of future generations?

Rich marine life. A successful tourism industry. Fisheries. Mobile phones, laptops, and growing internet connectivity or on the opposite side of the spectrum: pollution that threatens our oceans, a geography that makes it harder to build schools, hospitals and provide electricity that people need.
All of these elements make up the Maldives we see now. What Maldives do you want to see in the future?

Participants will have the freedom to choose any traditional or digital medium to create their artwork. The artwork should show their aspirations for the Maldives over the next decade.

The top 3 winners will get gift prizes worth MVR 5,000, MVR 3,000, and MVR 2,000, respectively. In addition, the artworks of Top 5 winners along with brief profiles will be published on World Bank Maldives and South Asia social media channels as well as the cover of the World Bank Maldives Country Partnership Framework publication.

It’s time to get inspired and create original art that captures your dreams for the Maldives’ future!
