Did you know that Clique College was initially operating under the name ‘Clique Training Centre’? Well, I did not either to be honest. At its formation on 23rd October 2000, Clique College was merely just a higher education institute. The Department of Higher Education granted them the ‘college’ status for the first time in 2009. At present, the College operates as a fully-fledged leading college in the country facilitating a broad range of courses. It has been accredited by the Association of Business Executive (UK) and is an approves learning partner of Heriot-Watt University (UK). In honoring and acknowledging their exemplary contribution to the education industry of Maldives, Clique College was awarded the President’s National Award in 2009.
A number of activities had been pre-planned for the occasion of their 20th Anniversary. In this regard, one of the very first thing done was unveiling a logo specifically dedicated to its 20th anniversary which was designed by the artist – Bamby. In the light of the economic downturn in the country owing to the impacts of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the college has initiated fully paid scholarships for 20 students from 20 islands as contribution to the community at this very difficult time.
Apart from this, the College will be focusing on providing internship opportunities for their students who have lost their jobs or are intending to start afresh due to the pandemic. Upon being allowed to hold full scaled events and complete freedom of movement, the College will hold numerous events for their students such as sports activities. They will be informing the public the latest developments regarding this via their social media accounts.
