President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih accompanied by First Lady Fazna Ahmed and a high-level Maldivian delegation have safely arrived in New York City to participate in the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA76).
Received by the President of the General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, and Ms. Thilmeeza Hussain, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations upon landing at John F Kennedy Airport.
This year, the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), marks a particularly momentous time in Maldives' history in the United Nations (UN), with a Maldivian serving as the PGA for the first time.
In Anticipation of President Solih’s address at the 76th session of the UNGA on Tuesday, 21st September 2021 drawing in more attention than ever as it is the highlight of this trip which is set to conclude with a swift return to the Maldives on Tuesday, 28th September 2021.
In addition to the General Debate, the President will engage in a number of high-level events and bilateral talks on the sidelines.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, First Lady Fazna Ahmed, and the high-level Maldivian delegation currently visiting New York attended a special dinner hosted by the President of the General Assembly (PGA). The dinner was held at the PGA Residence in New York City.
