A few months after taking over ownership of the Flying School in Addu, Avid Colleges voids the agreement with Asian Academy of Aeronautics. Chairman of Avid College, Abdulla Mushthaq Rashad said that the decision came through as respective authorities failed to collaborate as per the agreement on delivering on the promises and loss started piling up.
The agreement signed on late July was declared void on mutual grounds with AAA, effective this Saturday. By withdrawing any responsibility of managing the flying school, Avid College stated that it has incurred a loss of over MVR 4 million following delays to reopen the school. The college was not assisted in securing even a temporary building to run the school, no less renew the expired permit of the airport to fly given by the authorities.
Asian Academy of Aeronautics based in Sri Lanka had established the flying school in Addu in 2010. Since operations began, numerous complaints have been filed against AAA on misconduct and several steps have been taken against the company to compensate for the loss incurred by the students.
Even though Avid College has left responsibility of the flying school in Addu, it is possible that a private flying school may come to fruition in the near future.
