The Secretary General of United Nations World Tourism Organization, Zurab Pololikashvili, has announced his visit to the Maldives in October 2021. The announcement was made in the 33rd Joint Commission for Asia Pacific and Commission for South Asia meeting that took place virtually on Monday.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Pololikashvili stated that he will be in the Maldives from 5-8 of October, 2021. During his visit, Mr. Pololikashvili is looking forward to inaugurating the 15th Executive Training Program by UNWTO.
29 member states took part in the commission where discussions were held on the status of the recovery attempts in the industry among the member states. The discussions aimed to identify the challenges, exchange ideas and activate the solutions that #RestartTourism in the region.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, Mohamed Zamry Mathy Zain. Alongside him, the co-chair was Minister of Tourism of the Maldives, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom.
