99.9% of MACL’s staff receives first dose of vaccine.

The vaccination program that allied Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and Maldives Health Protection Agency (HPA) ensued on March 29th 2021 and the fruits of their efforts finally ripen with 99.9% of MACL’s staff having received the first doses of vaccine and 89.3% being fully vaccinated. 

This program aimed to vaccinate all VIA staff including MACL, Airline staff, Government bodies and resort partners, onsite contractors among others.  

Apart from MACL staff, 927 VIA passholders received the first dose and 1716 received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine under the VIA vaccination program. 

Maldives Airports Company is the operator of Velana International Airport and has been massively involved in destination marketing and bringing in new airlines to the Maldives to boost up the tourism industry. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Velana International Airport (VIA) has kept its high standards assuring passenger and staff safety. As a result, in September 2020 VIA was awarded the ACI Health Accreditation certificate as the 2nd airport from the Asia Pacific and on February 2021 VIA has received the ACI voice of the customer recognition award
