In a ceremony held in Maldives Polytechnic yesterday, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation has inaugurated the state-of-the-art Automotive Workshop of the institution.
The event was graced by the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan who was joined by the CEO of Maldives, Ahmed Nasir, and UNDP Resident Representative in the Maldives, Akiko Fujii.
Funded by the MEERY Project, the workshop is equipped with the latest technology in the field that will be used to train and test the students’ knowledge in handling and repairing the equipment and the machinery.
Delivering her remarks at the ceremony, Minister Nahula said that the institution plays a major role in building the skilled workforce of the nation in various technical fields. She highlighted the importance of such modern workshops that adapt the latest advancements in technology to education, as reiterated by Minister Ibrahim Hassan as well.
He was confident that the first-ever wheel alignment measuring equipment now available at the workshop will not only provide training in new areas for the automotive industry but will also contribute to making our roads safer.
Commenced in 2016, there are more than 80 graduates to date from various courses in the automotive sector offered at Maldives Polytechnic.
