HPA announces COVID-19 Vaccination Options for Pregnant Women

HPA has shared new vaccination options for pregnant women in accordance to latest regulations and guidelines. If the guidelines are followed HPA assures the minimization of risk for the intended patients. 

If you received your first dose of vaccine before your pregnancy, HPA advices you to get your second dose as follows:  

  • If your first dose was Covisheild: 

    • Option 1: Get Pfizer as the second dose 
    Option 2: Get AstraZeneca as the second dose 

    • If your first dose was Sinopharm 

      • Option 1: Get Pfizer as the second dose 

      • If pregnant and haven't got any COVID-19 Vaccines  

        • Option: Get both doses of Pfizer vaccine 
         
        HPA has also shared the recommended interval between your first and second dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine in regards to Pregnant Recipients that are to be closely adhered by both administrators and recipients. 
         
        The recommended interval between 2 doses of COVID-19 Vaccines Administered in the Maldives are as FOLLOWS: 

        • Sinopharm – 3 weeks  
        • Pfizer – 3 weeks 
        • AstraZaneca - 8-12 weeks 

         
        Vaccinations have proved to minimize the ill-effects against the fast-evolving Covid19 spreading across the globe. Pregnant women were one of the last to be approved in the Maldives to receive the vaccines hence, it is urged from the public to vaccinate the soonest if you are eligible.
