WAMCO to Revive Doorstep Waste Collection from Sep 15 Onwards

Waste Management Corporation has re-evaluated their decision to commence the waste collection from individual households based on the most recent customer reviews they received upon the announcement. Considering how collecting and storing waste in the ground floor of the building is not the most convenient for most households, WAMCO has decided to revive door-to-door waste collection services.

Starting September 15, WAMCO collection staff will be collecting waste from the doorstep from all registered households that continue to pay their dues on a regular basis. In order to ensure smooth operations, WAMCO has requested all customers to take note of the following:

  • Registered customers must clear their debt from earlier than the last 3 months of billing. No additional application will be required to continue the service in this case.
  • Starting September 7, new registrations will only be done under the name of the building owner. Such registrations can be made for the building (building service) or for the apartments (doorstep service) separately.
  • Kindly make arrangements for the WAMCO staff to access the gathered waste with ease by the doorstep.
  • The most waste that can be disposed per household is up to 3 dustbin bags (40 litres) or 1 black dustbin bag (120 litres). The bags need to be closed off properly and should be of liftable weight. Heavier waste will not be disposed under the doorstep service. Customers requiring this service can opt for CAPS or CAPSlite from the hotline 1666.

WAMCO has further stated that DCard service given to customers who are allowed to self-dispose of the waste at WAMCO Male Waste Transfer Station will be discontinued from September 15 onwards. The site is closing down for upgrades.

Waste collection services will be carried out in the following times across Greater Male Region.

Male – 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Villimale – 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Hulhumale – 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Male City Council banned the disposal of waste on the roadside hence, WAMCO reminds the public to refrain from doing so. It is also the responsible thing to keep in mind the safety and hygiene while gathering waste for collection.
If you have not registered for waste disposal services at WAMCO, do so the soonest. Additional information is available on the WAMCO hotline 1666.
