H.M.H.I. Company Pvt Ltd Steps Up to Provide Emergency Patient Transfers in A.Dh. Atoll

The Maldivian islands being scattered across the archipelago is both a blessing and a curse at the same time. It is more challenging when it comes to providing basic necessities and services to islands outside the Greater Male’ region and capital atoll given that most of the development in almost all sectors were focused and therefore now is concentrated in this region only.

One of the most important service that faces unfortunate outcomes is the patient transport services in the health sector. In situations where patients in small islands need to be transferred to nearby islands or worse, be transported to Male’, making arrangements for a transfer can prove to be very hectic. It wasn’t until recently that sea ambulance services were introduced by Aasandha Pvt Ltd for this matter, and it still lacking enough resources to be executed to its full potential, sea ambulances often get delayed.

In cases of emergency, islanders depend on the availability of sea ambulances to transfer patients to other islands with proper medical care facilities. If a sea ambulance is unavailable or takes too long to arrive to the scene, islanders look for private speedboat service providers to assist them with the transfer. This also takes time causing unnecessary delays in providing the much-needed care to patients, putting their lives at greater risk with every passing second.

Aasandha has signed with H.M.H.I Company Pvt Ltd to be a dedicated speedboat transfer service provider in A.Dh. Atoll when a sea ambulance is unavailable. The signing ceremony took place on Thursday, and is a hopeful initiative in light of much deliberation to test the outsourcing of the service from Aasandha over the past. Ibrahim Rasheed, Deputy Managing Director of Aasandha signed the agreement along with Moosa Ibrahim, Managing Director of H.M.H.I. Company.

The arrangement will provide a required speedboat of ample capacity within the given timeframe from receiving the initial request to transfer patients between islands of A.Dh. Atoll and Male’ when needed.

Aasandha states that since the project is on a trial basis, the company will be closely researching on the developments of the arrangement, and if proven to be effective, will be similarly deployed in more atolls across the archipelago.
