MTCC Takes on the Largest Project in its 40 Year History

Established in 1980, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company remains the longest serving public company in the Maldives. In its 40-year history, the company has contributed to the economy in various capacities and successfully positioned itself as one of the strongest entities with presence in the entirety of the archipelago.  
 
Yesterday, in a meeting held with Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, MTCC has signed its biggest project so far; the execution of “R. Alifushi Land Reclamation and Airport Development Project”.  

While CEO Adam Azim signed on behalf of MTCC, Director General Ms. Fathimath Shaana Farooq received the end at MNPHI. The signing ceremony was graced by the MP for Alifushi Constituency Mohamed Rasheed Hussain – Bigey. 
 
The landmark project awarded to MTCC is a milestone for the company, believed to be a testament of the trust and confidence of the government towards MTCC. The project is valued at MVR 451.61 million. 
 
Scope of the project include, reclamation of 50.5 hectares of land, construction of 1200m runway, taxiway, apron with shoulder and service roads, shore protection, construction of a 2871 revetment and a 480m groyne. MTCC has been allocaterd 750 days to complete the project.
