The opening of the China-Maldives Bridge gave a ton of convenience to a lot of citizens who travel between the airport, Male’ and Hulhumale’ City.
Even though taking a ferry ride to Hulhumale’ seems like an event from days ago, it has been three years since the opening of the bridge. It used to be the only mode of transport between Male, Hulhumale, and the Airport at the time, a challenge on bad-weather days, weekends, and the holidays. This was eased immensely with the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge opening, now serving hundreds of thousands of traffic movement on a daily basis.
The Ambassador of the Peoples’ Republic of China to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, shared a tweet expressing her gratitude towards the strengthening of the relationship bond between the two countries after the opening of the bridge. She also highlighted the benefits the citizens of Maldives received, connecting three islands together which facilitated the peoples travelling, provided the leisure opportunities for the locals, making the bridge a true landmark of China-Maldives friendship.
Furthermore, the Mayor of Male’ City, Dr.Mohamed Muizzu expressed his sincere gratitude to President of China, Xi Jinping and the ex-President of Maldives, Abdulla Yaameen for their visionary leadership in building the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge.
