The Maldives Transport Authority released a statement mentioning the extension of the duration for License Examination to January 15th 2022.
The new rule that came into effect on July 15, 2021, states that practical exams have to be taken within 6 months of taking the theory exam. If past due, a fresh exam has to be taken in order to be eligible for a practical test.
The ministry stated that due to the COVID19 pandemic, a lot of their services had to be extended resulting in delays of license examinations to the citizens. Hence, the citizens who had finished the theory examination before the pandemic rule change, can now take their practical driving / riding examination before the due date of January 15th, 2022.
With the new rules set the Transportation Authority, every license will have 100 points that will get deducted with every traffic violation made. Once all the points come to a nil, the license will be voided. This means, a new license can only be retrieved after 6 months from the date of void.
