Simple Steps to Take Note of If You Are Applying for A Public Notary License in the Maldives

Are you a practicing lawyer in the Maldives who also wish to provide services as a Public Notary? The licensing body for this service, The Bar Council of the Maldives, has brought changes to the application process and here is what you need to know.  

The simplified process now requires the submission of only the NID copy and Admission to Practice certification along with the application form. The form can be submitted online via the website. Lawyers who have been practicing for at least 3 years or with a legal practice are eligible to apply. 

The approval process concludes upon confirmation of the legitimacy of the documents submitted after which, an e-template of the public notary seal stating the license number will be provided to the applicant.  

The changes brought to the process are aimed to ensure that as many capable and interested lawyers are given the opportunity to provide bar council services to the greater public.
