Maldives Police Service initiates sensitization program towards Child Rights and Protection targeting the employees of H.Dh. and H.A. atoll’s Police Service employees to be held on Maldivian National University campus grounds, H.dh Kulhudhuffushi. The program has begun on August 29, 2021 and will be conducted for a total of 5 days.
The program is the result of meticulous collaboration between the Family and Child Protection Wing of Maldives Police Service, Department of Juvenile Justice, UNICEF Maldives, and the Prosecutor General's Office. The aim of this program, one of many in a series of such programs, is to raise awareness and sensitivity on massively overlooked social issues.
Every session is set to highlight and expound on Juvenile Justice, Child Rights and Child Protection Laws in hopes of better equipping Police Officers to handle such matters. Aiming to educate those working in the related field on how to properly and efficiently handle child rights and protection or Juvenile Justice related cases. The program is designed to teach the ins and outs of such cases; things to pay extra attention and thought to, how to deal with a juvenile delinquent and important things to watch out for when working such cases, are all examples of important topics the program intends to instill in their audience.
Every employee of the Police Departments of each H.A. and H.Dh. atolls respectively is to participate in the program in the hopes that they are better equipped to Protect and Serve the citizens of this great nation.
