Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment has signed with Maldives National University to conduct research aiming to uncover the issues youth are facing in the society.
Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community empowerment State Minister, Hussain Ismail and Maldives National University Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam signed the agreement on Wednesday. The ceremony was held in the Youth Ministry.
The main focus of the research will be to distinguish the relationship between youth and crime – the reasons why they commit crimes and what makes them continue on the pathway repeatedly. It will also throw light on the unemployment observed among young males and females, youth lifestyle, and the factors and challenges contributing to the mental and physical wellbeing among the youth population.
The islands selected to conduct the research span across the archipelago, in the atolls of Hdh, Sh, B, K, Adh, M, Dh, L, Gdh, Fuvahmulah City and Addu City, also including the Greater Male region. The research will be carried out in 3 stages: Planning, Data Collection and Reporting respectively.
This project aims to provide better and favorable circumstances for the youth in the society.
