South Korean Ambassador to the Maldives Makes a Courtesy Call to the Vice President

H.E Jeon Woonjin, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Maldives, made a courtesy call on H.E Vice President Faisal Naseem on Tuesday.

During the call, the Vice President noted that South Korea has been an international ally and vital development partner to the Maldives for the past half century, nearing 55 years of cordial relations between the two countries. He expressed gratitude to the Republic of Korea for their support of the Maldives' candidacy during the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) elections in June of this year.

Vice President Faisal Naseem remarked that South Korea had made significant contributions to individual public empowerment in the Maldives by offering a variety of educational and higher education help, as well as training and development possibilities. They explored further possibilities of collaboration between the two countries, with an emphasis on tourism, education, and higher education.

Both the Vice President and the Ambassador stated that the two nations are looking forward to further cooperative collaboration in the international arena, particularly with regard to the climate emergency. South Korea and the Maldives, according to Ambassador Woonjin, have a shared interest in mitigating the negative consequences of climate change, such as sea level rise and air pollution.

At the end of the conversation, both sides emphasized their desire to continue working together on a worldwide scale.
